Founding Software Engineer
For the past few years, I have been obsessed with solving the most challenging technical problems in healthcare. Focusing on bridging the gap between providers and clients, I dedicated my time to create the nation’s first smart behavioral healthcare referral system. In efforts to solve a seemingly simple problem, connect patients to care, I discovered a much larger and systemic issue. There was and is no current national infrastructure to compliantly move data between behavioral health (mental health and substance abuse organizations). This lack of connection has led to many disastrous side effects seen echoed throughout the current fragmented behavioral healthcare system. Making it nearly impossible to create longitudinal outlooks on the client journey, care coordination between organizations, and loss of insights with no one capturing this data. Quite a Herculean task, I know! But this path has led me to become deeply aware of the underlying technical infrastructure that our nation’s healthcare system is built upon. Creating the Sayin platform alongside my CTO John Liebenau has been extremely insightful into how to build compliant scalable and data intensive systems.
Ayuda Software was founded around a simple but ambitious belief: the world's most important problems are often separated by artificial boundaries between industries, organizations, and data systems. Our mission is to build a portfolio of companies that operate on top of a shared software ecosystem, enabling knowledge, insights, and infrastructure to be leveraged across multiple markets. By creating interoperable platforms that solve essential public needs, we aim to unlock new forms of collaboration and intelligence that make software more useful to everyday people. The first company within this ecosystem, Sayin, is focused on bringing visibility to the behavioral healthcare system and making care easier to navigate. As each new company joins the Ayuda Software ecosystem, it will address a critical societal challenge while contributing to a broader network of shared technology, data, and innovation designed to improve how people interact with the systems they depend on most.
A natural extension of this work has been my involvement in the Strata FrameworkSet, an initiative I am building alongside software architect and researcher John Liebenau. Strata represents an effort to identify, abstract, and centralize the recurring patterns that emerge across complex enterprise software systems.
As a contributor to the framework, I introduced a TypeScript implementation of Strata's WebSocket client architecture, translating an existing Java-based interface into a React-accessible client library. This work established a bridge between modern frontend applications and backend WebSocket services while preserving the abstractions and communication patterns defined by the framework. The contribution included event receivers, session management, asynchronous message handling, and the foundational components necessary to support real-time communication across distributed systems. Through both Sayin and Strata, I have continued to deepen my understanding of how thoughtfully designed abstractions can reduce complexity, improve maintainability, and create software ecosystems that scale across organizations, industries, and use cases.
